In March, we hosted our third SIG meeting, The role of PPI in realist approaches. During this workshop we heard from four public representatives, using a Q&A approach. We discussed involvement, engagement and co-production, all from the perspective of
contributors.
We have produced an infographic summarising high level points made in this session below:
Our approach in this workshop was guided by the following questions:
How did you get involved with PPI and realist research? |
What about your own experience makes you particularly passionate about realist research? |
What helped to lay the foundations for your involvement in realist research? |
Why do you think PPI is important for realist research? |
Can you give an example where you really felt your contribution made a difference to a realist project? How was your contribution acknowledged? |
What do you think is difficult about getting involved in, and engaging with realist approaches? |
Can you give examples of the best ways to involve and engage people like yourself? |
What are the key barriers and solutions to getting people involved like yourself? |
What are your top tips for realist researchers when trying to engage people like yourself? |
Finally, we’d like to ask about your experiences of co-production in the realist process. In what ways have you experienced this? What worked? What didn’t? |
If you'd like to hear the responses to these questions, please email r.abrams@surrey.ac.uk to access the session recording.
